This was a really sweet story that seemed to tackle a number of social issues: race, the Great Depression, family...you name it! The main character, Bud, is a hoot! I loved his "Rules and Things for Having a Funner Life and Making a Better Liar Out of Yourself." I also love the way that he talks! It's a great story.
